Serum 2 questions / compatibility, updates

Preset compatibility

  • Serum 1 presets work in Serum 2 — all Serum 1 presets are fully compatible and will automatically appear in Serum 2's preset browser.
  • Serum 2 presets do not work in Serum 1 — Serum 2 presets cannot be loaded in Serum 1.

Will my preset ratings transfer?
Yes. Ratings applied to Serum 1 presets are transferred automatically the first time you launch Serum 2.

Do I still need Serum 1 after upgrading?
Not necessarily.

  • Serum 1 wavetables and noise files are included in Serum 2
  • You can move your presets into the Serum 2 preset folder
  • Once migrated, you can safely remove the Serum 1 preset folder

Can I keep using Serum 1?
Yes.

  • Serum 1 and Serum 2 can be installed at the same time
  • Serum 1 is end-of-life and will receive no further updates
  • Serum 2 is actively developed and uses less CPU

We strongly recommend migrating fully to Serum 2.
